Polo is an adventurous little dog with a patch over one eye. He has his own series of books, and in this one he goes on an expedition that takes him under the sea, up to the tree tops, into a land of ice and eventually out into space, where he meets some little green aliens that help him find a rocket to take him home again.

The story, which is told through a series of bright comic-book panels, has so many twists and turns that it takes a surprisingly long time to read. The illustrations are charming, and the narrative gap between each one is usually just enough for the reader figure out how Polo has magically got from one place to the next. A delightful book.
